I’ve been thinking of creative way to display some of my favorite photos. I was browsing through Hobby Lobby, and I stumbled into the clock aisle. I bought a 4×6 block of wood, and clock parts, and decided to give it a whirl! This project only cost around $10.00, and ads a lot of character and personality to your decor! This would make a unique DIY gift for those of you who are scouting out early Christmas gifting ideas!
You need:
Modge podge
paintbrush
A photo (I printed mine on regular copy paper)
wood block
clock parts
Tip: I would buy the wood and clock parts in the same section of the craft store, or know what thickness of wood you will need My wood was almost too thick to get the whole screw through the hole.
Step 1: Brush a thin layer of modge podge on your wood block. Then place your photo on top and flatten out any air bubbles. Brush another thin layer of modge podge on top of the photo. (Make sure the ink is completely dry, or it will spread)
Step 2: Sip some sangria while the modge podge dries
Step 3: Drill a hole in the middle of your wood block (You don’t have to drill in the middle; you can place your clock in the bottom corner if you have a photo of a person and you don’t want to place your clock on that part of the photo).
Step 4: Assemble your clock per the directions that came with your kit. This is where it’s important to know that you have the right size wood block. You could even do this with a round clock face, by printing out your photo and tracing the circle and cutting it out.
I didn’t put any numbers on my clock. I wanted to leave as much of the photo exposed, and I though the numbers would detract from that. Enjoy your new unique decor! Makes a great piece for an accent table, or integrate it into your wall art!
