Happy Friday everybody! I recently completed this fun project for my boyfriend’s office, and I love the result! I found the idea for these cloud lights on Pinterest from Wedding High. As soon as I showed my boyfriend the idea for these, he decided he needed 5 of them. All you need are some lanterns, cotton batting, a glue gun, and a hanging light kit with low heat bulbs. I’ve worked on these over  the past month, sitting down to do a little at a time. I’m so excited to finally be able to share them with you, and I know my boyfriend’s really excited to finally have them done! You can check out the tutorial for this project here. Here’s how I made them:

Simply pull at your cotton batting until it looks fluffy, I started out with bigger pieces, then filled in spaces and built it up with smaller pieces. Glue your cotton to your lanterns using the glue gun, until it looks… “cloud like”. There were a few that took me forever to feel like I got it just right, and a couple took only 20 minutes. Use the hanging light kit to hang, and remember to use low heat bulbs, or flameless candles. I hope you enjoyed this project as much as I did! It took a lot of time (probably because I made 5 of them) but the result was worth it! These would make great decorations for a wedding, or any room you’d like to add a touch of whimsy to. I’m a big fan of abstract art. I love to paint, and I love instant gratification, what can I say? Painting an abstract landscape on a huge canvas usually takes me weeks to do. I love to be able to just sit down and complete a mini painting in one sitting. Today I’m going to show you how you can create your own abstract artwork in one sitting! I am using Lyons stick on canvas, and sticking them right in my art journal!

You need:

Paint (Use colors that mix well together such as blues and reds, yellows and reds, yellows and blues, browns and yellows, etc.)

Canvas

Paintbrush

Water container

Newspaper

Step 1:

I like to start with 1 large white blob in the middle. Then randomly apply small blobs of colors all over the canvas. Make sure to pair colors near each other that will mix well, for example place yellows next to reds, and reds next to blues etc. Make sure to add a lot more white in places too, this will create depth and dimension in your colors.

Step 2: Dip your brush in some water and start moving some of the white paint in the middle towards one of your colors. Move the paint around and get used to how it blends. Start moving into your next color. Try to wash your brush every now and then in between every 2 or 3 colors.

Step 3: Once your painting is done, sip some moscato and wait for the paint to dry! Here are a couple I did. It’s really therapeutic and satisfying to sit down and do a little art, just for the sake of making art. Turn on some music and get lost in your little painting for a half hour- I promise you will feel so good once you’re done!

Last weekend I sat down with my cousin and had some much needed crafting and girl time! I’ve been seeing sharpie mugs everywhere on Pinterest, and with the dollar store right down the road from my house, I thought it would be the perfect weekend project! I started by sketching out some designs on paper and then just dove right in.

If you make a mistake, just rub the marker off with some hair spray on a paper towel. Don’t forget to clean your mugs before you start. Once finished, pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees F and place your mugs on a baking sheet in the oven while it is pre-heating. Bake for 30 minutes, then turn the oven off and let the mugs cool down in the oven. The designs may rub off in the dishwasher, so hand wash only. Enjoy!

Hi there! Today I made this necklace for my friend Carly’s birthday, and I thought it would be fun to share with you how I made it. It’s kind of an anthropology inspired style. I used silver and turquoise beads, but you can use any colors you choose! To get started you will need: crimp beads, some beads of your choice, some beading wire (I use Beadalon satin silver wire) 2 pairs of jewelry pliers, small wire cutters, a clasp and a jump ring.

Step 1: Cut your wire/string to about 24″ (My necklace measured about 17″ once finished, I just like to allow a lot of extra string). Place a crimp bead on the wire, then the clasp. Fold over the short end of the wire, back into the crimp bead. (Ignore the unpainted nails, usually I do them really pretty- I swear!)

Step 2: Using your pliers, squeeze the crimp bead closed over the wire, creating a loop for the clasp to hang from.

Step 3: Trim the excess short wire right up to the crimp bead, then start stringing your beads. Once I hit near the middle, I started stringing the large turquoise beads. It will depend on the size of your beads, and the length you want your necklace to be. I just estimated!

Step 4: Once your beads are strung, simply repeat step 1 with the crimp bead and the jump ring. This necklace makes a great and thoughtful DIY gift, or just something new and pretty to keep and wear! Enjoy!

Hi! Happy Monday! Hope everyone enjoyed the extra hour of sleep as much as I did. I recently created this fun burlap wreath with vintage doileys and wanted to share. It was very simple and quick to make. All you need is a foam wreath, some burlap, doileys, hot glue gun, and scissors. Here’s how I made it:

Cut your burlap into 3″ strips. Start wrapping and gluing as you go. Make sure to glue all the ends to the same side, this will be the back.

Once you are done wrapping the wreath in burlap, start gluing on your doileys. I cut some of the bigger ones in half, so I could place them where I wanted and they didn’t overlap. There, you’re done! Wasn’t that easy?

I recently indulged in a few new pairs of shoes and boots. My dog’s bad habit of chewing my shoes is fueling my bad habit of shopping for them- it’s a vicious cycle., but here we are! For this outfit, I paired a sheer 3/4 sleeve striped blouse with my bright mustart yellow boots from Charlotte Russe! I added a belt to the top to “dress it up” a little. I also wear this top loose without a belt, and I love it either way. I actually bought this top from ebay. It was pre-loved, but cheap, and now my favorite piece in my fall wardrobe!
